There will be a sweep vehicle and sweeps on bikes as well as lead riders. But keep in mind you have been sold a map. The sweeps and leads are just volunteers with a heap of experience.

This ride has been designed for big adventure bikes and all brands are welcome. No technical sections are included, so this ride is suitable for the average rider. If you have a group of mates with different skill levels this will be a great fun ride.

This ride is one where you get time to stop at the lookouts and waterfalls. It is not like the APC rally original where the tracks are more technical and days are longer.

We are going to some beautiful parts of South East Queensland . We cover approx. 400 km per day.  In simple terms, its designed so any adventure bike can be used.

Coming to this ride on your own is not a drama. We all have breakfast together and dinner so you will meet people quickly. At each nighttime stop a pub is nominated as the meeting place. You can elect to have some quiet time if you wish and not attend the pub where the action will be.

It's not competitive and you can leave each morning anytime you wish before 8-30 am. This way we space out the riders so there is limited dust.  An APC Rally crew member will be sweeping the course so you know you have someone there to help in case you get a flat tyre or have a navigation problem. We use GPS navigation and phone navigation apps. If you have never done this before don't stress you can ride with our sweeps till you feel comfortable to navigate by yourself. Our team and our rides have taught over 1000 riders to navigate. If you dont wish to navigate we just ask you come with a mate who can navigate.

Faster riders enjoy our rides because they don't have to follow a lead rider or have to sit on corners, they simply get to the night stops earlier and have a shower before the others arrive. With this style of riding, we want you to go at your speed. We do ask that the slower riders try to leave each day as early as possible so they don't feel pressure from the sweep riders catching them and following them.

The APC rally team understands that some of our riders have a heap of experience you will find that our style of management is stress-free. Just stay in front of our sweeps, give the beginners space on the track, and enjoy a track where you only have to stop if you want to. GPS riding is the ultimate freedom.

Live tracking: LIFE 360 App  For safety we have all riders listed on a live tracking app that is on their phone. On this app we can send messages about the course so it's worth checking each morning. This app is great to see where your mates are at on the course. Only works when you have phone reception. About 80  % of the course has phone reception if you're with Telstra.

We are heading to towns where there is accom for 40 riders and there will be an accom list sent out 3 months before the ride.

Bike notes: Standard tyres will be fine for this ride. BMW GS, KTM 1290, Africa Twins, Yamaha T7, KTM 890,790,690, Triumph Tigers and DR"s and KLR'S are the main types of bikes that will be on the ride.

Here is a video link to this year's APC Rally Original which is our more technical track but it gives you an idea of how things work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p22Cu43JrEg

Information Guide    Terms and conditions

Riders can leave work on a Friday afternoon and then make their way to one of the three start points. The course is approximately 1700  km in length.

Our riders start and finish at the same point and hopefully, a start point is not too far for them to travel. Riding to the start points is recommended .

Riders are supplied with track maps and comprehensive track notes. All riders need a functioning GPS or phone app. I would suggest many have the GPS and Phone navigation App called GAIAi set up with the course before the start.

No GPS Experience  Package

Riders who have no idea about navigation can purchase a setup Nav system before the event and then an APC rally team member will load the GPS at the GPS loading night before the ride and then show you how to use it at the start of the ride.  Cost $400 and includes the following ( Android phone,Quadlock bar mount system, and charging cord) Riders will just need to ensure they have a USB port available on the bike. An optional $90 subscription fee to Gaia GPS is highly recommended this ads maps that you can see below the track line.

Note: if you wish to use your everyday phone all that will be required is to sort out a quad lock mounting system and a power cable and then download Gaia Gps app.

We recommend getting a seperate nav system because if you lose your primary phone it is a very bad day.

The key to this ride is the fact that other riders are on the course to help you. Then the APC rally sweep rider will show up as well. We will be on public roads so roadside assistance will come to the location if you have had a terminal breakdown.

Ride Information

FUEL RANGE Required: 280 Km Min

All riders should try to have 300 km of fuel range so they can do diversions if required. It is always good practice to fuel up each evening and buy water at the same time.

Tyres : The course can now be done on one set of tyres.  Bike shops are located on the route just in case we need them.

Tyre recommendations; MOTOZ Tractionator adventure Rear, Pirelli Scorpion rally Front Ultra heavy 5mm tubes and 28PSI pressure.

Some stuff we recommend all riders do before they do this ride or any other ride.

  1. Get spinal injury insurance http://www.pbf.asn.au/            $48 for one year $250,000 pay out
  2. Get Racq Ultimate or equivalent in your state. $300 This is awesome road side assistance it pays to get you home as well.

Gear recommendations.

Safety items;   Phone, Compression bandage, cigarette lighter, leatherman

GPS

All Gps units need to be hard-wired. The one in your car will not work in this application because we need to be able to load a GPX file into it.

Chain and Sprockets

Only steel sprockets should be used. Buy a $200 O ring chain. Have your gearing so you can do 100 km per hour without revving to hard.

Riding Gear

Good Boots, Helmet and gloves are essential. Googles are handy in the dust. All riders need a camel back with at least two litres of water. Riders need to carry sunglasses and cap, leatherman and cigarette lighter.

Cloths

3 socks, 3 jocks, two t shirts, 1 jeans, 1 jumper or puffer jacket, shorts, thongs, and casual sneakers.  (no more) Just think about having to pick your bike up if you drop it!!!

Personal Items

Toothbrush, Toothpaste, deodorant, brush, headache tablets, lip balm.

Camping gear ( only if you don’t have accom booked)

Phone charger.

Hat ,Sunglasses, reading glasses

Bike Spares and Tools

Spanner to undo front and rear wheel nuts. Set of Allan keys, a factory tool kit that came with the bike. Spare fuses, electrical tape, small zip ties 10, large zip ties 10.

Spare 21 inch front tube is handy if you dent a rim on tubeless. If your running tubeless pls bring puncture kit. Small electric air compressor is an essential item as well . Lightweight tyre levers as well

This should all be in a tool roll.

Panniers and tie-downs

Hard or soft panniers are okay . NOMAD MOTO are the best. When packing have all your pub stuff in one bag at the top of a pannier so it's easy to unpack each night. Try to just pack what is mentioned on this list. If you fill a set of hard panniers it usually means you're overloaded.

Wet Weather gear

Always carry a wet weather Jacket and buy two sizes larger than usual so it will fit over your riding gear. When it's cold you simply put this stuff on and it will make you warmer.
